Welcome To Poison Apple Productions

Poison Apple Productions provides high quality, well rounded, family friendly performing arts education, experiences and theatrical events to the community, by kids, for kids and with kids.

Poison Apple has been presenting original shows in Contra Costa County CA since 2000.  Formally incorporated in 2005, Poison Apple Productions is dedicated to promoting the role of young people in the performing arts as audience members and active participants in all stages of the theatrical process.

Poison Apple provides a unique forum for students to collaborate in a creative way with peers and adult mentors, sharing their knowledge and talents with others.  Many of the company’s participants have experience in dance, music, drama, creative writing and voice.  Others are learning backstage skills, such as makeup and hair design, costuming, set building, properties, lighting, stage management, publicity and more.  Poison Apple Productions participants learn by doing!

We currently offer projects designed to engage youth at a variety of age and skill levels:

How To Register For Classes and Pay Fees.

All events, classes, workshops and rehearsals are located at the Poison Apple Tree House 4737 #4 Imhoff Place, Martinez.

You may sign up for any and as many of our workshops as you like by

  •        Paying with a credit card using the PayPal feature on our website.  Please use the memo portion to provide your child’s name and class selection
  •        Mailing a check, with your class selection in the memo portion of your check, to our business office at 154 Encinal Place, Pittsburg, CA 94565-6048

Participation in our Lesher Center shows is by audition only and no payments should be made until after the cast list is announced.

Discounts for multiple siblings. Payment plans and scholarships available. No person will be excluded for inability to pay.

Fun in the New Year with Poison Apple

Dear Poison Apple Friends,
Happy New Year! As the old year draws to a close and the new year begins,
Poison Apple Productions is proud to announce two new activities!
First, we are adding an Apple Seeds class for home school families, in addition to our regular evening class. Our Apple seeds program offers our newest and youngest members the chance to perform before a live audience in the musical America’s Tallest Tales.
And just for fun, Poison Apple is proud to announce Branching Out: an Open Mic Night for performers of all ages and experience levels.

Simply atttend the first or second rehearsal and we’ll take care of the rest!

Evening class and new afternoon home school class available!

Our newest program, Apple Seeds, offers younger and novice actors a chance to perform in a musical before a live audience. Apple seeds is rehearsed and performed in a less intense environment, with a smaller time commitment than our other productions. This fun compilation of American Tall Tales provides a fun opportunity to explore theater. Students will learn the basics of theater as well as good singing techniques. We also provide the sets, properties, costumes, makeup…everything necessary for a complete theater experience!

Class concludes with two performances of the show at the Poison Apple Tree House. No auditions required. Participation confirmed by payment of fees.

Cost: $100, siblings pay $75 each

Dates: Thursdays January 5 – March 1, 2012; Additional Tuesday rehearsals in February/March

Evening class:Performances at 5:00 and 7:00 PM Saturday March 3rd

First class: 6:30-8:00 PM. Parent attendance is necessary at first class.

Home School Class: Performances at 5:00 and 7:00 PM Sunday March 4th

Branching Out

an open mic night welcoming performers of all ages and abilities

Who?

Actors, singers, dancers, musicians of all ages and experience levels and appreciative audience members!

What?

A family friendly place to perform songs, dances, short scenes, monologues, poetry or play a musical instrument

When?

The third Sunday each month 6 :30-8:30 PM. Free Admission. Snacks, desserts, beverages available for purchase

Why?

To share your talents, prepare for an audition, sing the song you’ve always wanted to sing, share a bit of a your favorite play, work with a friend, try something new or just because you love performing!

How?

We provide the stage, sound and lighting. You provide the material, 10 minutes or less please!

A piano accompanist will be available for those who bring sheet music ~ tips will be greatly appreciated!

A sound technician will be available to play accompaniment from CDs, IPods or other MP3 players

If you are a youth 14 years or older with previous stage experience looking for an opportunity to increase your knowledge of theater, contact us and volunteer to work in a position of responsibility with the Apple Seeds program!  As a registered 501(c)(3) educational charity, volunteering with Poison Apple fulfills most requirements for community service!

Fantasy Makeup
Ages 8 and up

This fun six week class will teach basic stage makeup application and safety techniques. Each student receives one-on-one time with our skilled makeup instructor and a final portfolio featuring their work. Each week, the class will focus on a different area of specialty makeup design.

Sundays 6:00-7:30 PM. Six sessions beginning January 8th, concluding February 12th

Instructor:

Cost: $100 plus $25 material fee (covers the cost of specialty makeup supplies and portfolio)

Private/Small Group Vocal Instruction
Ages 8 and up

Voice lessons for any level of singer from beginner to the more experienced will include basic singing technique, proper breathing and breath control, articulation, diction, posture and musical theater performance.

Instructor:   G.A. Klein
Cost: $25 for each individual 45 minute session. Groups by special arrangement
